Sharing is one of the most exciting features of Alertle! Users can create interesting feedpacks and (optionally) share them with other Alertle users in the Customize section.
Lets say you are really keen about Apple. You can create an Apple feedpack, add 20 or so interesting Apple-related feeds to it and share it with others. Other people who are also interested in Apple can then simply subscribe to your feedpack and save the hassle of finding and adding those 20 Mac-related feeds ! This is good karma
, and you can benefit from it if others do the same. The end-result would be that the vast number of feeds on the web would get increasingly organized, and it will benefit everyone.
Click on the Shared tab in Customize to display the entire list of shared feedpacks. You can also search for a feedpack by name.
You can click on the various feedpacks to see:
If you want to add the feedpack to your MyPicks list, click on Subscribe to this feedpack.
Note: If you want to remove a previously subscribed feedpack from your MyPicks list, click Unsubscribe from this feedpack and it will be removed from your list.
You can share your feedpacks (which contain atleast 5 feeds) by clicking the Share this feedpack button. It will be added to the shared list and will be instantly visible to all Alertle users. If you change your mind about it, you can click on Make this feedpack private button to make it private again.
After you share a feedpack, you can still add / remove feeds from it but you cannot rename, delete or make it private if it has other subscribers.
